Doug’s Day Diner

It sounds like a cute, comfy neighborhood diner, right? The place where the old men go every weekday to get their coffee and talk about the news of the day (probably FOX News and how dumb their children are for watching CNN which is clearly NOT news), the place where families go on the weekends for a good brunch out, the place where the single individual can go up to the bar and eat and drink and read their newspaper or scroll Instagram in perfect harmony with the loud, boisterous noises of a busy diner.

Well, all of your presuppositions would be right. They have comfy booths and a bar. Their coffee is hot, their lattes are nice, (alternate milks available). Their claim to fame is their potatoes, which come out like shaped like fettuccini noodles and are delicious. They call them “browns” in all their menu items. Their pancakes they refer to as hotcakes, not to be confused with their biscuits, which are delicious, although no gluten free variety available. Their turkey green chile sausage is amazing and unique, slightly spicy, with great flavor. Their plates are very hearty, it can feed even the hungriest of the group. They even have Whimpies, which refers to their half portions of their Papas plates, which are large mountains of potatoes with your choice of protein.

With a slightly Mexican slant to their food, offering both red and green salsa, all of their dishes carry a great kick of spice. The best though is their homemade jam. Ranging in flavors from raspberry, strawberry, mango, and more it is delicious! I have put it on their toast, on their waffles, on their pancakes. It is amazing!! They also offer lunch items, which your writer has not partaken of, but if they are anything like breakfast, they are worth a visit. Truly Doug’s Diner lives up to its name, it is a true diner, and a great family place to eat. We give it two thumbs up!!!
